   UV/10- Automatic Mode Wiring Diagram

In the automatic mode the UV/10 will automatically come on about 10 seconds after power has dropped. It will begin to supply AC power and send an open signal to the gate system. Once the gate has been opened, the UV/10 shuts down. The UV/10 will supply either a pulse or latching type of signal to the gate depending on the setting of the DIP Switch. A reset command can also be sent to the gate system on resumption of line power. While most installations in the Automatic Mode will use the Open Contacts of the operator, it is possible to wire into the Close Contacts of the operator. This will cause the gate to close on loss of AC power.

Before proceeding with the following instructions, make sure that the AC Power to the gate system has been turned off at the distribution breaker box. Refer to the diagram for the following steps.

OPEN TRIGGER: Use No. 22 wire to connect between the UV/10 and the OPEN contacts on the Gate Controller.

AC INPUT: Run AC power from the main breaker box into the AC INPUT of the UV/10. Use No. 12 GA wire as shown. Do not confuse the input with the output or serious damage will result.

AC OUTPUT: Run AC power from the output of the UV/10 into the AC input of the Gate System. Use No. 12 GA wire as shown.

SELECTING AN OPEN SIGNAL: The UV/10 can either supply a brief pulse signal to the open contacts of the Gate System, or a latching signal, which stays on as long as the UV/10 is supplying power. These are selected via the DIP Switch as shown below.

SELECTING A RESET SIGNAL: Since some Gate Systems require a reset via their Open Contacts after power has been restored, a reset signal can be selected via the DIP Switch as shown below and the timing diagram to the right. The Reset pulse is sent to the gate system approximately 30 seconds after main power has been restored.

AUTOMATIC MODE DIP SWITCH SETTINGS: Locate the 3-position DIP Switch at the top of the board and set it as follows (Left to Right):

A1 Automatic: Pulse Open, no Reset:
1: OFF (Down)
2: ON (Up)
3: OFF (Down)
A2 Automatic: Pulse Open, with Reset:
1: OFF (Down)
2: OFF (Down)
3: ON (Up)
A3 Automatic: Latch/Hold Open, no Reset:
1: ON (Up)
2: OFF (Down)
3: ON (Up)
A4 Automatic: Latch/Hold Open, with Reset:
1: OFF (Down)
2: ON (Up)
3: ON (Up)

Turning the UV/10 On and Connecting the Batteries.

  1. Make sure the AC input power from the main breaker is off
  2. Wait until step 6 to connect the main battery pack
  3. Mount the battery pack using the clamp supplied
  4. Make sure all the control and the AC input and output wires are in place
  5. Apply AC from the main breaker panel
  6. Connect the battery pack
The UV/10 is now active and charging. It is recommended, the battery be given a few hours to come back to full charge after installation. Operation can be tested by turning incoming main power off at the breaker and activating the manual switch.
